Do you want to walk a path different from traditional lawyers and put the ideals of fairness and justice into practice through your work? We are a professional, passionate, and dynamic office, and we sincerely invite you to join us!
Position: Full-Time Staff Attorney
-
Job Responsibilities (Divided into three main aspects; this does not represent the workload of a single individual)
(I) Legislative Research and Advocacy
The Judges Act, Prosecutors Act, Attorney Regulation Act, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Act on the Participation of Citizen Judges in Criminal Trials are among the bills actively promoted by the JRF. By researching foreign legislative precedents and consulting with experts from judicial, prosecutorial, defense, and academic sectors, we draft legislation and advocate for legal amendments to improve the judicial system.
(II) Handling Various Grievance Cases
- Wrongful Conviction Rescue: One of the most important tasks of the JRF. The cases of Ho-Shun Chiu, Ching-Kai Chen, and Ming-Tsun Lo are among the individual cases we continuously assist. Through wrongful conviction rescue and the analysis of the causes of miscarriages of justice, we hope to clear names and establish a better criminal trial system.
- Individual Evaluations of Judges and Prosecutors: This is one of our representative works. Through grievance cases involving unfair treatment during investigation and trial proceedings, we file complaints with official authorities to supervise judges and prosecutors in the lawful and proper exercise of their powers, thereby enhancing public trust in the judiciary.
- Non-disclosure of Investigation: This is our newly established special project, which holds prosecutors, police, and investigators accountable for leaking investigative information, and continuously engages with the public and media to thoroughly implement the principle of non-disclosure of investigations.
The JRF organizes various legal education lectures, such as "Wrongful Conviction Lectures" to convey the concept of a fair trial, and "Campus Mock Trial Courts" to guide students in practically operating the lay judge system. Through these efforts, people are brought closer to the judiciary, mobilizing more people to care about and participate in judicial reform.
