Lu Cheng Case
Lu Cheng's (盧正) guilty verdict relied heavily on his confession, yet numerous doubts surrounding the case remain. Director Ts'ai Ch'ung-lung (蔡崇隆) completed the documentary The Execution of Lu Cheng in 2001 to highlight the suspicious points of the case. In 2019, the Taiwan Association for Innocence received a plea letter from Lu Cheng's family and, after investigation, decided to take up the case for relief. By 2024, professional analytical opinions on forensic psychology, criminal scene reconstruction, and forensic entomology have indicated that Lu Cheng's confession lacked voluntariness and was highly likely a false confession. Furthermore, numerous contradictions existed within his confession, and scientific research has also confirmed that his confession lacked truthfulness. The relief team is currently seeking investigation and relief from the Supreme Prosecutors Office.
