Judicial Reform Foundation

Since its establishment in 1995, the Judicial Reform Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the JRF), from advocating for judges' nameplates on bishops' benches to establishing the evaluation system for judges and prosecutors and setting up a complaint center, has maintained the vision of building a "judiciary worthy of the people's trust." At the same time, the JRF aspires to be a more influential platform where every person on this land can enjoy the right to a fair trial as naturally as breathing; where Taiwanese society possesses a firm and continuous oversight force to prevent those in power from abusing it; and where the judiciary has the courage to acknowledge its own imperfections so that wrongful convictions can be vindicated and systems continually reformed.

The JRF focuses on four major areas of work: legislation and policy, evaluation of judges and prosecutors, individual case relief, and legal education. We currently have 9 projects and specialized groups, including "Individual Case Evaluation of Judges and Prosecutors," "Wrongful Conviction Relief," "Non-Publicity of Investigations," "Reconstruction and Amendment of the Code of Criminal Procedure," "Prison and Drug System Reform," "Expert Witness and Forensic Science System Reform," "Campus Mock Jury Trials and Legal Education," "Police and Prosecutor System Reform," and the "International Group." We warmly invite volunteer attorneys to join us and collaborate on these initiatives!

As Taiwan transitions from the martial law era to a democratic society, many people have tirelessly participated in various aspects of judicial reform along the path of judicial democratization to deepen democracy, enhance judicial quality, and defend human rights. We sincerely invite you to reserve time to attend this [Volunteer Attorney Recruitment Information Session] and become another progressive force in Taiwanese society; let us work together for judicial reform!
