Workshop | "Comfort Women" Mini-Curation Teaching Toolkit | Promotion Project & Teacher Training Workshop
Last edited: 2026-07-27
In recent years, issues arising from gender inequality—such as intimate partner violence, deepfake incidents, the leakage of private sexual images, and digital sexual violence—have emerged endlessly. Furthermore, in November 2022, the international review of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) is scheduled to take place. To provide the public in central Taiwan with an opportunity to use history as a mirror and understand how "grandmothers" transitioned from facing discrimination to becoming forerunners of the #MeToo movement, the Taichung Office of the Judicial Reform Foundation co-organized an exhibition with the Taipei Women's Rescue Foundation, featuring the "Grandma's House in Taichung|Special Exhibition on Peace and Women's Human Rights."
To help students understand the historical truth of the "comfort women," the Taipei Women's Rescue Foundation has developed teaching aids and lesson plans to design a "Comfort Women" Mini-Curation Teaching Toolkit. Through teacher training workshops, they hope to empower teachers to become seeds for transmitting knowledge about "comfort women," bringing the issue of "comfort women" and the underlying gender and human rights issues out of museums and into more school campuses across Taiwan.
This workshop specially invites Tu Ying-ch'iu, CEO of the Taipei Women's Rescue Foundation, and Attorney Ch'en Yi-t'ing to share the history of "comfort women" and the human rights controversies behind it, hoping to give participating teachers a deeper understanding of the issues that may be involved with "comfort women."
In addition, CEO Tu Ying-ch'iu and Wang I-chün from Fengyuan Senior High School will share practical demonstrations on how to use the teaching toolkit.
Special Notes:
This event is open for 30 in-person registrations and 50 online registrations.
For teachers attending in person, the Taipei Women's Rescue Foundation will gift a Mini-Curation Teaching Toolkit on a school basis, with a maximum of one set per school for teachers to take back and use for teaching;
Teachers who register online are also welcome to request one, but they must provide an address and cover the mailing costs themselves. Registration is warmly welcomed.
Teachers who have previously participated in training sessions held by the Taipei Women's Rescue Foundation and received a teaching toolkit are welcome to register again, but due to limited funding, a teaching toolkit will not be provided again.
