Judicial Reform Foundation

Public interest, much like the dazzling colors of light refracting through glass, projects different images and imaginations in the minds of different people. For this seminar, we have invited a full-time attorney from the Legal Policy Department of the Judicial Reform Foundation to explain frontline experience in legislative work and share how legal research can be integrated with legislative practice.

Although the Legislative Yuan is the representative body under the Constitution, committee reviews within the Legislative Yuan during the law-making process are often already the "finishing stage." Public hearings, explanatory sessions, and internal seminars among various stakeholders prior to this stage determine the legislative purpose and direction; however, obtaining relevant information is difficult, and knowing how to participate is even harder.

The Judicial Reform Foundation has long focused on institutional advocacy and legislative research for judicial reform. With the expansion of our manpower, attorney and scholar task forces have been formed in areas such as criminal law, civil and administrative litigation systems, constitutional litigation, and crime victim protection to study amendment proposals and take further action, hoping to promote the improvement of legislative quality.

How does the Legislative Yuan deliberate bills? How can legislative practice be combined with legal research? We sincerely welcome anyone with confusion, curiosity, or interest—whether students from any department, graduate students, or practitioners—to join us in finding your own questions (and thesis topics).
