Hello JRF Partners,

Half of 2026 has already passed, and we thank you for your care and support over the past six months. We are sharing an important piece of news: Starting July 1, the Rule of Law Education Manager previously stationed at the Taipei Office will relocate to Kaohsiung. After 31 years of deeply rooting ourselves in Taipei and 11 years in Taichung, this is the #first time JRF is establishing a presence in Kaohsiung, with the hope of more systematically advancing our work in southern Taiwan. We are currently borrowing a desk at the Southern Office of the Taiwan Association for Human Rights (Address: 10F.-4, No. 157, Sec. 2, Yixin Rd., Cianjhen Dist., Kaohsiung City). We thank TAHR for their support and assistance, which has provided us with a physical space so we can work together for human rights and the rule of law in southern Taiwan.

In the first half of the year, we already collaborated with the Graduate Institute of Gender Studies at National Kaohsiung Normal University to host a seminar on Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPPs) in the wake of #MeToo, and we have continued to hold monthly "JRF Emergency Rooms" in Kaohsiung to accept public grievances. In the latter half of the year, regarding casework, we hope to continuously reach more people in need in the south.

In terms of rule of law education, we plan to hold a mock trial seed instructor workshop for the Kaohsiung-Pingtung area and a digital human rights lesson plan workshop for teachers in remote areas. At the same time, we are actively planning legal ethics courses (covering evaluations of judges and prosecutors, attorney discipline, and court observation) and Code of Civil Procedure courses in collaboration with the Department of Financial and Economic Law at the National University of Kaohsiung.

Looking ahead, we especially hope that our rule of law education work in the south can reach younger and more diverse audiences—not only law departments and high school students, but also elementary and junior high school groups that we have previously had less contact with. This relocation is not merely a shift in office location, but another step for JRF in continuously responding to social changes through rule of law education.

Partners from all sectors are welcome to offer your guidance and feedback, and please contact us if you are interested in collaboration!
